A log partially covered by thick overgrowth.  This is the raw material for the Spalted boxes that house my Ebony folders.   This log looks like a promising candidate.

 

 

Once the bark is removed, the beautiful colors and textures are apparent.

Ebony (bone) folder for book binding, box making or paper arts.

 

 

Folder Dimensions: L: 6.5″ x 1″

Box Dimensions: L: 8″ x W: 3″

 

 

This bone folder is hand carved using Gabon Ebony from Africa. The folder itself is inlayed into a handcrafted box made of Spalted Pecan. A small piece of Elk bone is inlayed into the front of the box. Each folder and box come with a hand signed certificate, and each one is hand numbered (this is no. 46).
